This assignment was chosen to demonstrate professional behavior congruent with the social work code of ethics and apply strategies to effectively identify, address, and resolve ethical conflicts in professional practice. This assignment was chosen to integrate social work values and ethics with practice and social/public policy issues. Research for this project concluded that GLBT teens who receive harassment in schools for being a sexual minority have a higher risk of becoming victims of physical and verbal abuse. The research discussed social and public policies that greatly effect this oppressed population. This writer believes that it is the moral and ethical responsibility of all staff and employees to provide a culture where all students feel respected and valued.
It is proposed that this policy will provide a positive safe environment for sexual minorities to learn. A place where the emphasis is not on survival but education becomes the primary focus.
